About Me

My name is Ronda Gish and I am an Ohio based, professional & partly self-taught artist. Recently I have been included in Marquis Who’s Who. I have been creating artwork for years using various mediums: oil, watercolor, pastels, acrylics, ink, and clay.  My artwork is inspired by my family, dogs, horses, life events.  Early in my childhood I was inspired you could say with messing in mud pies as a kid and using my inquisitive imagination creating designs with my father’s soldering pieces from television repairs. (He wasn’t always happy with my creations – lol.)

Imagination and life in general continued to inspire my artwork throughout my school days. At age 13, I was the youngest student chosen by the local Congregational Church to attend a special art class held at the University of Illinois college in Champain-Urbana. Attending at this age was very impressionable to me as the rest of the students in this art class were much older. The class was taught by professor McRoberts. Techniques learned in that class, coupled with my own experimenting inspired me later to enter juried fine art shows bringing home Best of Show to Mayoral awards. I was also listed at one point in The Who’s Who in Chicago for portraits. Shows, ribbons, certificates are great ways to show your accomplishments in art, but they are not my inspiration.

Depending on what I encountered in life and different inspirations, I was drawn to use different mediums as that energy spoke to me. I have painted on different “canvases”, from  real automobiles, wall mural, to fine arts. Sometimes I wonder where all of this energy, motivation, inspiration comes from but really it’s not any one object or the medium, it’s a combination of my life, my environment, my creativity that speaks to me through the medium I chose to express that feeling.

Simply put – it’s art and every piece I create is unique!
